Today, we're diving headfirst into the world of screen printing, with a spotlight on some amazing people with a remarkable print shop that's been pushing the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship—Don't Lose Hope Screen Printing & Embroidery (DLH). Y’all know we're passionate about supplying and celebrating the screen print community so we're thrilled to introduce you to a shop that embodies the spirit of innovation and artistry.

GET TO KNOW THE UNIQUE TEAM THAT IS DLH

Rodney - Founder & master screen printer: Needs coffee to live (actually though), the only thing more impressive than his work ethic is his mustache, most likely to recite LOTR, Star Wars, and Harry Potter lore, the reason we all have the best job in the world

Jason - Production Manager: Will work for coors light, can make friends with anyone, any time, any place, ideal night is playing video games at home with 2 sports games on at the same time, most likely to be laughing at a YouTube video

Aaron - Press Assistant: World's best uncle, best dressed at DLH, 99% chance he's wearing birkenstocks with socks right now, most likely to know the latest conspiracy theory

Elisa - Sales, Marketing, Branding, Strategy, Socials & Sass: Dog mom forever, only funny on the internet, would always rather be hiking, scuba diving, or sleeping, most likely to be right even if it makes you mad

Building Positive Connections

DLH is more than just screen printing in Oregon’s capital  – as Rodney puts it, "Our goal is to be more than a print shop, we try to be a helpful contact for fellow business owners and community leaders in our amazing town of Salem." They're dedicated to creating positive associations with everyone who interacts with them before, during, and after print jobs, whether or not they become customers. Elisa says "Our goal is to give an engaging & exciting experience when working with our team." DLH knows that outstanding customer service begins with clear and timely communication. They've heard countless stories of subpar service at other print shops, which is why they've made it their priority to communicate effectively. Their advice to other print shops is invaluable: "Pay attention to what you receive positive feedback about the most & double down on that."

EDUCATING THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA

DLH's active presence on social media serves a dual purpose — educating clients and setting realistic expectations. They recognize that most of their clients have little to no experience in ordering custom merchandise. As they put it, "People are far more likely to engage with you if they know what to expect." This transparency helps clients understand the ordering process better, ensuring a smoother journey. DLH says "Clear and timely communication has been our priority." And for all entrepreneurs, their wisdom is universal: "Make it a point to read & listen to as much branding, operational, marketing, and growth mindset literature as you can."

PERSONALIZING THE PROCESS

One of DLH's secrets to producing top-quality prints is offering customized advice to clients. They understand the art of tailoring advice to each client's unique needs, as there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Rodney and Elisa say "Our goal is to find out the end use for the product, and that tells us how deep in the weeds to get with the decision maker for the order." It’s this personalized approach that ensures that every product, though always of great quality, meets the client's specific goals. “Everything we put out is great quality, but what makes something “valuable” will differ depending on what the client’s goal is (premium feel vs quick turnaround etc)”.

EXPANDING BEYOND APPAREL

DLH's remarkable product range extends well beyond apparel. They've diversified their offerings to include promotional items such as stickers, business cards, banners, totes, lanyards, buttons, drinkware, enamel pins, digital paper prints, and writing instruments. These items, though sometimes overlooked as an afterthought, are now highlighted to provide added value to clients and offer diverse options. Rodney explained "Expanding into these cross sections has been one strategy to increase our revenue.”

TEAM BUILDING & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

DLH attends local print events whenever possible, considering them valuable team-building opportunities. Their team was so fun when they joined us for this year’s annual Ryonet Open House. Robb of Ryonet said “They’re such a blast to hang out with, such good people! Their dedication in supporting the screen print community is truly admirable” We loved getting to know them better and they all jumped in to assist with other printers to teach print techniques, it was really great. Afterward, DLH said, "We love to stay close with suppliers, especially brands like Ryonet who truly work towards making things easier & better for printers like us."
